Living Green Walls Take Center Stage in Sustainable Design.

Husband and wife, Dylan and Michelle Hinde are spirited entrepreneurs living in South Africa. They held separate careers in the recent past but came together in the present with a like-minded passion for living green walls! Their respective career backgrounds allowed the couple to each bring a unique skill set to contribute to their desired success. They focused their knowledge, skills, and abilities on growing their business, and in 2019 Earth Studio was born. 

The beauty and the benefits of living green walls garnered much attention in South Africa. It quickly became a desired sustainable design element. After countless successful consultations, designs, and projects, the couple secured the distribution rights for Canada and have already begun servicing partners in the residential and commercial markets. In the coming days, the couple will be leaving South Africa to put down roots in Vancouver, BC. They have the drive and focus and will continue to impart their extensive knowledge of living green walls to new audiences in Canada.

The green wall system offered by Earth Studio is modular for easy installation and scalable meaning, it can be a large-scale living green wall masterpiece or a simple small vertical herb garden. The rails, where the pots hang, are crafted from aluminum. They are lightweight and non-corrosive. The rails can be stacked and cut to size for custom dimensions. The pots have a unique hexagonal design that allows the plants to fit seamlessly together. The close fit gives the appearance of a lush blanket of greenery and hides all the hardware underneath. The plant pots hang independently on the rails, allowing for very clean or very drastic configurations. The plant bag is made from recycled plastic and tied inside the hex pot. The bag is what keeps the soil from falling out while also supporting the plant. The plant pots can be planted off-site. Transporting to their final destination to be hung would result in less disruption and mess for the client. Get creative with clients and design dreamy original plantscapes or even re-create company logos. Install at restaurants to promote the use of local produce, herbs, and other edible plants. No doubt it will create ambiance and a serene atmosphere. From a design perspective, living green walls add texture, color and can present a bold statement. They are a very eco-positive design element that can contribute to sustainability efforts at home or any commercial establishment.

Watering is a breeze with the built-in water-wise pump and irrigation system. It is pre-engineered for simple assembly and eliminates the need to outsource an irrigation specialist.

Or, if your vertical wall is outside simply hook up the drip line to a hose and tap to manually water your plants.

It is hard to tell by the picture how large that living green wall is so, I have added a shot given to me by Dylan and Michelle to show scale. It is massive and, in my opinion, a statement to support the commitment to improving the environment.
